Work Smarter with the Institute for Social Media

Accelerated Business Results (ABR) is partnering with the Institute for Social Media (ISM) at Cincinnati State to offer the upcoming Selling 2.0 Certification. The purpose of this program is to teach professionals how to work smarter by combining proven sales skills with the advantages of social media.

For today’s blog, we have interviewed Jim Kleemeier, one Cincinnati State’s Workforce Development Center leaders, to find out more about the Selling 2.0 Certification course and what the ISM can offer.

  • Can you describe the vision and purpose of the Institute for Social Media (ISM)?

The mission of the Institute for Social Media at Cincinnati State is: “To provide an industry-recognized certification process through leading-edge, rigorous instruction and training on the critical elements of social media. To ensure sustainable, optimal market presence for professionals and organizations by maximizing the execution of social media marketing strategies to achieve professional and business objectives.”

  • There are many consultants and companies offering social media training. How is ISM different?

The ISM has built a program that is quickly becoming the leading edge in the social media sphere. Nationally recognized social media experts created and teach the program. In addition, we are the first in the area to offer a certificate program – a program with true academic rigor. This is not simply a casual “lunch and learn” – students and participants can earn credit hours through ISM. Plus, we know that it’s working! People are graduating and getting sought-after jobs.

  • How will the ISM benefit our region?

The ISM will become the “go-to” source for vetted social media training, consulting services, and research. Additionally, the Institute will help more people get jobs in this challenging market.

  • What courses are currently being offered?

We are developing a robust curriculum that will target all areas that professionals need to know about social media. Currently, we’re offering courses in marketing and business development (including the Selling 2.0 Certification), and there are plans to offer additional social media courses in the areas of HR as well as a legal component.

  • Tell us about the new Selling 2.0 program.

Selling 2.0 will teach sales professionals and business owners how to work smarter by combining proven sales skills with the advantages of social media. It will be highly interactive, hands-on learning – you won’t just be sitting through a lecture. The program will tackle real-world challenges that business development professionals face and how to overcome them. And you’ll walk away with an action plan for growing and managing your business opportunities.
